Valentine’s Day is almost round the corner and the more romantic amongst us will possibly be planning a lovely surprise for their significant other. Almost definitely, this would include a card, chosen with love and care, for the spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend, or fiancé/fiancee. Flowers are also often on the agenda, tagged with heartfelt messages of appreciation for their loved ones. When our children were younger, my sister used to babysit them so that we could enjoy dinner a deux in a nice restaurant.
The desire to treat someone we love on Valentine’s has not changed over the years. At Blenheim Lodge, we have tried to help it along with a selection of two special offers: guests may either receive a discounted rate on any two-night stay or more in our B&B; or they may opt for a complimentary bottle of bubbly instead. Of course guests may wish to book a night’s stay only if they do not have enough time for a longer break.
Guests may also create their own basket of treats. We have good working relationships with a local artisan baker, florist, and chocolatier who design and make their products by hand, to which can be added personal messages for the recipients. Add a bottle of champagne or wine to the mix, and let us help arrange a delicious meal on board a yacht or in a good restaurant, and Bob’s your uncle, if you wish to make an impression on a certain lady or gentleman!
Celebrating Valentine’s away from home is a great way to combine a romantic interlude with a relaxing getaway from the hubbub and routine of everyday life. Make your Valentine’s breakaway a little holiday where life can be put on hold for some moments – so that you can return home refreshed and rejuvenated to clamber upon life’s continuing roundabout of joys and challenges. With this in mind, why not take a short break at friendly Blenheim Lodge B&B, where our comfortable rooms overlook glorious views of Lake Windermere and the fells? Prices start from £196 for two nights B&B per couple during Valentine’s Day and weekend.
One of the attractions of going away together is the gift of time that allows couples to spend quality time with each other. There is a walk behind Blenheim Lodge called the Poet’s Walk, which I think is a rather romantic name. Besides this walk, there are other pretty footpaths to follow, including those which lead to viewpoints with 360-degree views. Perhaps wander the acres of land behind our house at will, and discover numerous other woodland paths which criss cross this pretty fell side.
Imagine walking hand in hand across glorious countryside and finding ancient stone benches or wooden seats to rest upon as you contemplate spectacular views of lake and fells. Then think about strolling arm in arm along Lake Windermere’s promenade in Bowness-on-Windermere, a mere 5-minute walk from Blenheim Lodge. Hop on a ferry and cruise the lake so that you can experience it at close range. Or explore the Lake District by bus, boat or car, discovering scenic treasures as you go along. What a lovely way to spend time together!
There are lots of nice places to eat around the Lakes. If you are staying at Blenheim Lodge, you might want to walk to its local restaurants rather than driving to restaurants further afield. Oh! And before I forget, if you wish to treat your special someone to beauty and/or massage treatments, there are local spas which offer these amenities. Finally, independent boutique shops abound in Bowness-on-Windermere, a short 3-5 minute walk from our door. So, if you were meaning to buy your sweetheart a present, but never got around to doing so, you can always check out our local shops and get something special here!
