Well, Easter public holiday long weekend starts on 29th March, and we still have late availability at Blenheim Lodge. Prices for our en-suite single bedrooms with views of Lake Windermere and the fells are only £63 per night for bed and breakfast during this long Easter break.
As for a romantic break in a four-poster room with Lake Windermere and fell views, we have The Coniston, which has an antique William IV bed beautifully draped in raw silk at £63 per person per night for bed and breakfast. Our largest room, The Fairfield, is also available. This room is £75 per person per night for bed and breakfast over Easter public holiday long weekend . It has a 5′ kingsize bed, a single daybed set in huge triple floor to ceiling bay windows overlooking Lake Windermere, and a nice walk-in shower en-suite. It can also be used for double, twin or triple occupancy, with the third person paying only £40 per night for bed and breakfast.
I have been reliably told today our incoming guests from Hong Kong that the Lake District is warmer than London (where they flew into) and Richmond (their last stop before arriving at Blenheim Lodge in Bowness-on-Windermere.) I suppose this means that our part of the Lake District can claim better weather and warmer temperatures than a good part of the UK during this last week in March 2013. This might come as a surprise to some people, but as I have said in the past, we do enjoy our own microclimate to some extent because of the ring of mountains that protect us in Bowness-on-Windermere. According to the Tourist Board, it seems that it is bitterly cold further up in the North Lakes. Here, in the South Central Lakes, we are doing away, although that is not to say that the weather might not change!
Well, I took a couple more photos today with my computer so you can see what it looks like right now outside our home in Bowness-on-Windermere. They are far from excellent photographs and I only wish I had the expertise to do better. The sun is out now and hopefully it will stay out until it goes to bed.
