2013 seems to go so quickly, I can hardly catch up with it! May is only round the corner and the first May Bank Holiday long weekend will start on 3rd May 2013. At Blenheim Lodge, we are going to try something different after 10.5 years at our B&B. For the first time ever, we are going to offer highly discounted off-peak prices during the peak early May Bank Holiday long weekend period. However, this offer is ONLY available when booking direct with us on the telephone or by email. There is also a DISCOUNT available when using the BOOK NOW button on our blog, but which will show the higher rates until someone puts in their dates before it displays the discounted tariffs.
We came to Blenheim Lodge in September 2002, and were given advice on how to price our rooms by the previous proprietors. Basically, we were advised that we should increase room tariffs during public holiday long weekends, regular weekends, school holiday weeks, and summer periods. Well, we have, generally, kept their suggestion regarding tariff increases during public holiday long weekends. As for seasonal and weekend increases, we followed their advice for about a year, and then discarded this way of doing things after that. Thus, our seasonal rates hardly fluctuate at all – usually between 50 pence to £2 per night, including breakfast. In the main, we offer our midwinter rates year-round.
This year, we are going to try offering our guest rooms at off-peak rates during the first May Bank Holiday long weekend. We have never done this before, so we will have to see how this pans out. One reason for creating this offer is to attract new people to the Lakes, particularly those who will enjoy the scenic beauty and quietude of this lovely region. One never knows: new visitors might develop into new Lake District fans!
Our first May Bank Holiday long weekend deal is a fantastic one. Instead of prices starting at £53 per person per night for bed and breakfast, they will start at only £45 per person per night for bed and breakfast, based on any 3-night stay. Since all our rooms have views either of Lake Windermere or the fells, even our cheapest room will boast lovely Lake views to enjoy. Also, since all our rooms are en-suite, bar one which has a private bathroom, all guests will have their own private facilities. There will not be any difference in the service we give, the food we serve, or the amenities we offer. The only difference will lie in the considerably cheaper rates that guests will pay to book into our rooms during this first May Public Holiday long weekend. Guests who want to take advantage of this offer must either telephone or email us directly to do so: either by clicking on this link to go to our ‘Contact Blenheim Lodge’ page or by using the contact details given at the end of this post.
All Lake District attractions, indoor and outdoor activities, the countryside, and amenities will be open as usual during this period. Public transport and tours are also available to take visitors from one scenic place to another. In Bowness-on-Windermere, the ferries on Lake Windermere form part of that transport system. Guests who prefer not to drive can take advantage of local transport links or opt for return tours from Blenheim Lodge.
I hope that visitors will find our special offer appealing and come to discover the Lakes for themselves. The Lake District is such a lovely part of the world, and the early May Bank Holiday presents an excellent opportunity to take advantage of that extra long weekend in order to explore this area. As a taster of the landscapes visitors might look forward to in the Lake District, I would like to finish this post with an unedited photo of a view from one of our bedrooms at Blenheim Lodge snapped by a previous guest.
