Till the cows come home

Quite literally! I wrote recently about the inhabitants which have taken up home on Brantfell behind our guest house, Blenheim Lodge, although I do not know how long they will stay. (Sob!) As promised in my last post, I have finally managed to take some photographs of these new visitors. This time, I have used my son’s camera. The photographs are better in quality than those taken using my Macbook Air, but are nevertheless homegrown at best! I hope you will enjoy these images nonetheless.

‘Let me get at all that lovely grass! Let’s go!’ Two white cows lumber after a brown one (vaguely seen on the far right of this photograph) as they head to pastures new.

See above some of the herd making their way across the field behind our house. This photograph was taken from the bay window located by the first floor landing of the main stairway in our guest house.

‘Yummy! Hey, those leaves taste really good!’ A cow feasts on some foliage in our ‘backyard’ at Blenheim Lodge.

This white cow looks like it is enjoying its dinner. I could see that the brown one to its right was getting stuck into its food as well. Now, see the photograph below. Replete, all the herd, bar one, lay down to digest their meals.

This photo of cows at rest was snapped from The Dalesway room, a pretty room with French antiques, including a romantic Louis XV bed, overlooking the fields and woodlands at the back of our guesthouse, Blenheim Lodge.

This peaceful scenario of cows at rest reflects the tranquil feel of our guests’ home from home at Blenheim Lodge. Hubby and I are enamoured of the fantastic Lake and fell views to the front of our house and the serene pastoral perspective from the back of our house. With our guesthouse only an easy 5-minute walk to the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, its amenities, and Lake Windermere itself, coupled with the quietude we enjoy on our wee hilltop, the open Lake views we relish, as well as our immediate strolling access to open countryside and viewpoints, we feel most blessed indeed that we have such a wonderful place to live in.

One of the photos I took this week which displays some pretty foliage colours. This view of Lake Windermere and fell was snapped from The eyrie, one of our single bedrooms at Blenheim Lodge.

Why not come and share our peaceful abode and the lovely Lake District with us this May Spring Bank Holiday long weekend or, indeed, at any time of the year? Indulge in a Lakeland retreat. Walk this beautiful region’s open fells; admire its pretty forces; go boating on its myriad lakes. Perhaps try out some of the Lake District’s more daring adventures: tree-top trekking; zip-lining; ghyll scrambling; mountain biking and so on. Or visit its historic homes and gardens, such as Hill Top, Brantwood and Rydal Mount, for instance. Other attractions abound: museums; a lively zoo; steam boats and trains; etc. As for more activity choices, why not try horse-riding, go-carting; bird-watching; fishing . . . and many more? We are more than happy to help our guests arrange activities to suit.

Blenheim Lodge . . . panoramic Lake views, peace and tranquillity, nestled against acres of beautiful fields and woodlands, in the heart of the English Lake District National Park.’
