Bowness from our rooms today

The weather forecasts have been for dismal weather over the next few days in the UK. In fact, my elderly uncle phoned from Canada yesterday to check that we were alright because he had seen storm images on his TV screen. I assured him that in fact the weather here has been fine and that we were in no danger at all.

Indeed, in Bowness-on-Windermere, we have had a mixture of bright sunshine and short bursts of rainfall, accompanied at times by gusty winds. Nonetheless, the day has generally been calm and warmish for October. In fact, the difference between the weather forecasters’ predictions and the actual weather itself has been such that I thought I would take a few photos of what it looked like from our windows at Blenheim Lodge today.

Blenheim Lodge Bed and Breakfast is quietly located atop a hill in Bowness-on-Windermere and we enjoy some truly stunning views of Lake Windermere and its surrounding fells. Our guest house is a 3-minute walk downhill into Bowness town centre, its shops, restaurants, pubs, attractions and Lake Windermere. With the sun shining today, I took some photos of the views from some of our rooms to share in this blog post.

Here is a photo of the fells taken from our lounge. Sunshine glitters on neighbouring residences despite a slightly overcast sky.

The lounge in Blenheim Lodge has triple floor to ceiling bay windows and another single bay window to the side. From the lounge, one can see some wonderful lake and fell views over Old Bowness.

Ten bedrooms at Blenheim Lodge have differing views of Lake Windermere, the fells and Old Bowness. Here is an image of a view taken from one of our bedrooms today. As you can see, there are patches of bright blue sky amidst the clouds!

Moving from The Fairfield room to The Langdale room, both on the first floor of our house, I snapped the following photograph.

I hope you enjoyed them and that perhaps you will be able to come and stay with us and look upon these views for yourself from our guest house.
