Our new look frontage

Well, after some months of ‘gardening’ mania, the frontage of our guest house, Blenheim Lodge, is finally complete. The firm hired to do the job has now completed the walling, built a platform extending to a couple of steps, put in some plants, fixed the hand rail, and laid tarmac on what was once a shrub bed in order to create a new parking space. To Hubby’s and my great satisfaction, even the unsightly bags of stone have been removed from the drive and we now have a neat looking frontage to our home.

Here is a recent photo of the front of our guesthouse, Blenheim Lodge, after the garden work had taken place.

Here are the new platform and lower steps that were put in at Blenheim Lodge in order to create a more welcoming entrance into our guests’ ‘home from home’ whilst they are with us. (Photo taken from one of the bedrooms overlooking the front of the house.)

Of course Hubby and I can now breathe a sigh of relief after months of agonising over which firm to give the work to and the cost that still has to be paid for the work already done. The unsightly mess of a front garden over the winter months is now but a memory. Thankfully, despite the work in progress, we still had a proper car park for guests to use throughout the process. Here is a photo of what it looked like then.

Now, Hubby and I can sit down to simply enjoy our usual views of beautiful Lake Windermere with its surrounding mountains standing benign guard over it. In fact, I was speaking on Face Time to my cousins in Canada today, and they were quite taken by the views we enjoy from our home when I turned the camera towards all that picturesque beauty. It would be so lovely if they could come and see all this gorgeous scenery for themselves. But even more so, I would be thrilled to see them again since I haven’t seen them in the last 30 years!
