Working behind the scenes

It has been ages since I have written simply because I haven’t had the time. I have been trying my best to work on a new website which will hopefully be near completion in the early part of July. It is in the end stages although there is still lots to sort out. Once we get that done, I will be so relieved!

Meanwhile, we have also been spending time and money on refurbishing our guest house. It is a long process getting things to be just what we want them to be: not easy, as we have found out. This process of renewing items and decor in the guest house has been difficult partly because we are limited by available funds.

We have been considering new crockery for the guest house, specifically bone china crockery. I think we have narrowed it down to Royal Crown Derby, which is still made in the UK. (Many products of the big familiar names in china and porcelain are no longer produced in the UK, even if they might be decorated here.)

Another thing I have done lately has been to hire crafts people to reupholster some of our furniture and renew our curtains and soft furnishings. We also asked a Laura Ashley designer to come visit our place and make suggestions about refreshing the decor in our guest house. I am not sure that I have enjoyed this process of refurbishment because it has proved so time-consuming.

One thing that is totally unrelated to the above but which took over our lives for some weeks is Zack’s health. We spent much time and money consulting the vets. Prayer and hope was what kept me going. Our great baby is now doing well, I am pleased to report. I don’t think we could have borne losing him! (We are still very conscious of his great age and health and keep an eagle eye out for any anomalies.)

Thanks to all those who have kept faith with me and have read and liked my posts. And even followed my blog. I think that I might well do another disappearing act over the next fortnight or so to totally complete the new website before writing regularly again.

God bless.
