Dragging me into Spring

I can’t say that I have been looking forward to Spring this year – mostly because I feel that Winter has been ushered out before it had even begun its stay. Winter this year has been relatively mild . . . warm, in fact. Where was the snow of yesteryears? I missed that. We only got a smidgeon this year, and the temperatures, even at Christmas time in Edinburgh (where we spent Christmas), were in their teens. What’s happened to the weather? It just doesn’t feel right!

On top of the world in Nether Kendal. We were quite literally standing on top of the topmost rock on this promontory. We had not thought of hiking up until we saw it – quite simply, because we had not known that it existed!

Be that as it may, we are now preparing for Spring. The weather is mild, the birds are singing, and Horatio is snoring by the radiator. All is silent except for the clicking of laptop keys as I now write to tell my readers that we are open for Spring and look forward to welcoming visitors to our AA recognised 4-Star guest house in Bowness on Windermere, which happens to be located in the heart of the UNESCO Heritage Lake District National Park.

Have you booked a spring break yet? Or for that matter, an Easter long weekend? How about coming to the Lakes and checking it out? It really is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and the world. At Blenheim Lodge, we have Springtime Special Offers available for short and longer stays, as well as availability for Easter breaks. Do take a look here: https://www.blenheim-lodge.com/packages-and-specials/. We have a number of different room types available, including The Langdale bedroom shown below.

The Langdale room is bright and airy and features a beautiful and comfortable 4-poster bed.

Make yourselves comfortable on our newly upholstered chairs, sup a cup of tea, and gaze our to overarching lake and fell views from The Langdale room at Blenheim Lodge.

This Spring has also seen us celebrating Horatio’s first birthday with us. He turned three on 28th March 2019. We have seen him come a long way – from a skinny unruly boy to a loving sleek muscly creature. He is now 80 kg in weight, and we hope that he will keep that weight from now on. He loves his food as all Great Danes do, but we don’t want him to get fat for the simple reason that it wouldn’t do him any good especially as he gets older due to the extra weight on his joints. We are always mindful of this because we saw how much Zack suffered with joint problems in later life. His had not been a result of excessive weight, but had been exacerbated by exuberantly jumping down stairs!

The birthday boy sits nicely for a treat at Loweswater.

I also wonder what Spring will bring this year. Will it take the UK out of the EU or will it continue to witness the extension of a painful process that seems never ending? Will the politicians who call the shots have the guts to follow the will of the people or will they look to promote their own version of Brexit? What’s it to be?

Well, those are my thoughts as I think of Spring right now . . . as it draws us further into the year 2019. One thing never changes though: Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, as the age-old chorus goes:

Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same.

All may change, but Jesus, never, Glory to His name.

Glory to His name.

Glory to His name.

All may change, but Jesus, never, glory to His name.

Looking forward to 2019 with Horatio.
